Output, or load reactors are installed between the drive and the motor to help attenuate noise and to reduce voltage and current spikes which can damage the drive electronics and degrade motor wiring insulation.  They are often used in applications where the motor is remote from the drive, with cables exceeding 100 feet in length, however this varies by application.
